The 2010 Census revealed that New York State will lose two seats in the House of Representatives, falling from 31 to 29. That means certain congressional districts will need to be redrawn to reflect population changes. Districts with diminished population are on the chopping block.

The largest population decline in all of New York's delegation occurred in the gerrymandered district of NY 28.
After losing 42,522 people Louise Slaughter's district is left with only 611,838 residents, that is 105,869 residents below the new district threshold of 717,707.
The second largest population decline of New York's delegation occurred in NY 27.
Brian Higgins' district lost 25,090 residents, falling to 629,271; that is 88,436 short of the district mandate.
Conventional wisdom says that these two Liberal Representatives will see their districts evaporate. That should mean at least one less Liberal in the US Congress...
